A little about me.
Hello all ! This is the first time I'm writing a blog. The reason I chose the name Jane-the Environmentalist (at least that's how it was supposed to show up on the author section !) was because I am a writer, by heart, and I happen to be a huge fan of the show 'Jane the Virgin'. My husband and that show were the biggest catalysts in pushing me to start a blog of my own. Also my English name is Jane, so it only made sense.
When I was a kid, environment was not a big thing, unfortunately. India had, and still has bigger issues to deal with. Villages and sometimes even cities struggle with the most basic things like providing food, clothing and shelter to all, having an access to schools and hospitals could be considered a luxury. I was born in the 1990's in a metropolitan city like Mumbai; and Mumbai, for anyone, is a blessing in disguise. I was a regular kid who would throw bus tickets out of the window, a pamphlet here and some food wrappers there. Everyone did it, right ? Well, at least the regular non-aware kids did it.
But as I became a teenager, I grew a conscious. You know the voice inside your head that tells you the wrong from the right and so on? I'd wince at the sight of someone spitting on the road or throwing garbage on the streets, I started caring about humanity, cleanliness, kindness and in my early twenties, about animals; but somehow, I'd always feel helpless; I'd always feel that I could do a bit more than a Facebook post - no offense, that is one of the early steps one takes to vent out unexpressed emotions and that is exactly what I did - but i didn't know better until I came to Canada and started pursuing a Bachelor's in Environmental Studies!
I suddenly feel like I've found my ground, like I now will have the authentic knowledge and the correct resources to move ahead. I still am a novice, a girl in this big wild world waiting to grab every drop of wisdom she can. So here I am writing my very first blog, having been motivated by Jane Gloriana Villanueva and my husband of course.
I'm sure we all have a lot to offer to the world in different forms - kindness to each other, love towards a human that may not necessarily share your point of view, respect for mother nature even if you sometimes don't understand it fully and basically being what today's generation calls it - WOKE.

Therefore, I hope you stick around to read more of my musings and thoughts as I continue with my studies and share some Yoda-like wisdom with you all!
